Market & Business Development Intern – Full-Time Junior

What We Do 👋

AlliedOffsets has a unique mission: combine technology, data, and finance to bring radical transparency to carbon offsetting. We do this by creating innovative data products that help to improve transparency in the market. With 30,000+ projects in our database including details about the project, carbon credits, buyers, retirements, news, brokers, resellers, prices, forward curves and much more. Our current clients include corporations, financial institutions, brokers, academia, consulting firms, public sector entities, and research organizations.

Why We Do It 📊

Carbon offsetting is becoming increasingly popular as companies and individuals around the world take a more active role in mitigating climate change. However, the market is very fragmented with (until now) no central registry for all the projects, making it difficult to know what the projects are, and how they compare with others. Our database allows a wide variety of industry actors to access information on projects across all registries, in order to make the market more transparent and available to all.

The Role 💼

This is a unique dual internship sitting across two complementary workstreams – carbon market engagement and business development. You’ll spend half your time working directly with project developers and credit investors/buyers as part of a market initiative, and the other half driving outreach and lead generation for AlliedOffsets.

The two sides of this role are designed to work hand in hand: the market knowledge and relationships you build in one directly fuel the other.

What You’ll Be Doing

Carbon Market Engagement (20hrs)

  • Engaging with project developers, credit buyers, and investors to support a market platform we’re building
  • Building and managing relationships with key stakeholders across the VCM
  • Developing a deep understanding of how the carbon market operates

Business Development (20hrs)

  • Identifying and qualifying leads across AlliedOffsets’ target audience
  • Conducting outreach to prospects including corporations, financial institutions, and consultancies
  • Supporting the sales team with pipeline building and CRM management
  • Leveraging your carbon market knowledge to have credible, informed conversations with prospects

What We’re Looking For

  • Background in trading, broking, or carbon markets
  • Strong communicator – comfortable engaging with industry professionals
  • Commercially curious with an interest in business development (even better if you have BD experience)
  • Self-starter who can manage their own time across two workstreams
  • Fluency in English is required. Additional languages (eg: Spanish or Hindi) would be beneficial given the international nature of our work, but are not essential.

Benefits

  • Hybrid Work Schedule
  • Considerable autonomy
  • Work for a purpose-driven company knowing your efforts are helping to mitigate the effects of climate change and build a better world for future generations
  • Work in a collaborative environment with motivated, purpose-driven colleagues
  • Regular social events
  • Office in central London location
  • Annual Company Retreat
  • Free Lunch Fridays
  • Summer Fridays

Diversity & Inclusion Statement

While diversity and inclusion has long been a business priority, we know we have significant work to do and are accelerating our commitment in our workplace and community. With that said, we particularly encourage applications from people who identify as Black, Asian, or from a Minority Ethnic background.
