We’re building the world’s largest aggregated dataset on carbon offset projects, connecting information from across registries, brokers, and public sources to make the market more accessible and effective.

About this internship

The Buyer Data Intern role sits within our data team and focuses on maintaining and improving the integrity of AlliedOffsets’ buyer dataset. You’ll work closely with analysts to clean, validate, and integrate large corporate buyer datasets from multiple sources, helping us ensure accuracy and consistency across the AlliedOffsets platform.

This internship is ideal for someone who is passionate about using data to drive transparency in climate markets, has strong technical skills, and enjoys problem-solving and attention to detail.

This is a part-time position.

Key responsibilities may include

  • Cleaning and validating large corporate buyer datasets to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency
  • Running and supporting regular data quality checks and internal audits
  • Identifying and resolving data discrepancies across platforms and sources
  • Conducting manual research where needed (e.g. reviewing company data, registry checks, or project documentation)
  • Improving and documenting workflows for data cleaning and standardisation
  • Performing fuzzy matching and other data standardisation tasks to ensure correct alignment of internal and external data
  • Assisting with integration of new data sources into AlliedOffsets’ systems, including through API connections
  • Supporting the development of internal data visualisations and analytical dashboards
  • Collaborating with other teams to communicate findings, track progress, and improve data processes

Candidate profile

  • Proficiency in Python for data manipulation and analysis
  • Strong SQL skills for database querying and management (ideal)
  • Experience with data visualisation tools and techniques (e.g. Tableau, Power BI, or Python libraries)
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple data tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset
  • Data management in googlesheets  

Desirable qualifications:

  • Experience with machine learning or statistical modelling
  • Knowledge of or interest in the voluntary carbon market or sustainability data
  • Familiarity with API integration and data pipeline development
  • Working toward a degree in computer science, data science, environmental sciences, or related field
