Role Description 💼
The Carbon Policy Analyst will be responsible for analysing the intersection of voluntary and compliance carbon markets, conducting in-depth country policy analysis, and generating reports that inform our clients and stakeholders. This role offers significant growth potential for candidates interested in expanding beyond policy analysis to focus on stakeholder engagement, including industry leadership and collaboration with global policymakers.

Key Responsibilities

Research and Market Analysis

  • Conduct market research and analyse data to identify trends and insights.
  • Identify and evaluate trends, opportunities and risks within markets
  • Assist in gathering and compiling data for reports and presentations.

Policy Analysis

  • Research and analyse national and international carbon policies and regulations, including Supervisory Body (SB) to the Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, and the annual Conference of the Parties (COP).
  • Prepare detailed country policy reports that highlight key regulatory developments and their implications for carbon markets

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Engage with key stakeholders, including policymakers, industry representatives, and non-governmental organisations, to gather insights and validate findings.
  • Represent the company at relevant industry events, conferences, and meetings.
    Contribute to building long-term relationships with stakeholders, positioning the company as a thought leader in carbon markets.
  • Support efforts to strengthen stakeholder networks, with potential for evolving into a stakeholder engagement leadership role.

Project Assistance

  • Work closely with other teams within the company, including the Sales, Analytics, and Data teams, to ensure accuracy of analysis and reports, and to support sales cycle opportunities.
  • Support the planning and execution of Policy Team product and tender opportunity assignments.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on carbon markets and policies to support various projects and initiatives, including international agreements (Article 6 of the Paris Agreement), regulatory overlaps (VCM/Compliance) and carbon pricing mechanisms (carbon taxes, cap-and-trade systems).

Requirements

  • Fluency in both English and Spanish (spoken and written) is essential, as the role involves communicating with clients and colleagues in both languages
  • Advanced degree in Environmental Policy, Economics, International Relations, or a related field.
  • Experience in carbon markets, environmental policy analysis, or a related field is a plus.
  • Proven experience in conducting market and policy analysis.
  • Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and policy documents.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and software (e.g., Excel, Python).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
